The Bird of Paradise Copper Sconce provides soft ambient lighting perfect for enjoying time spent with family and friends well past sunset. These solid copper sconces are made to withstand the tropical elements of sun, wind, and salt water, and are carefully crafted by hand.

Color Options

Bare Copper Finish:

One of the most beautiful aspects of working with a material like copper is its natural tendency to develop a patina over time. Unless otherwise requested, your copper light fixture will arrive with a bare, polished finish. Please do not touch the copper with bare hands as the oils on your hands will cause fingerprints to patina quicker than the rest of the bare copper

Verdigris:

If you would like to have your fixture arrive with a bluish-greenish patina I would be happy to speed up the natural process with a chemical
patina.

DIY:

Alternatively, I am happy to share patina recipes for those adventurous souls who are willing to apply the patinas themselves. Please add a note and I will send a copy of the recipe and tips along with your order.

Care information

Unless otherwise requested, your copper light fixture will arrive with a bare, polished finish. Please do not touch the copper with bare hands as the oils on your hands will cause fingerprints to patina quicker than the rest of the bare copper. Your sconces will come with a paper covering which allows the light fixtures to be installed without leaving fingerprints. When your light fixture arrives, I encourage you to take a careful look at your fixture, but I suggest you avoid touching the bare copper finish and replacing the paper covering until AFTER it is installed by a licensed electrician.

Bare Copper Finish:
Once installed, your fixture will develop a patina unique to your location. Typically, it will first turn a rich coppery brown to reddish color and sometimes developing to a blue, green, or turquoise patina.

Should you wish to return the light fixture to its original bare copper finish, I suggest using a copper polish such as Wright's Copper Cream.

Clear Coat:

Keep out of direct sunlight. Wipe down as necessary with a soft damp cloth.

Verdigris Patina:

Gently dust the sconce with a soft brush. The patina is very delicate for the initial week so handle and install with care.
